To mark the 75th anniversary of the Akari light sculptures, OGATA Paris presents an installation by Isamu Noguchi, created with The Noguchi Museum and the Garden Museum in New York.
Created from 1951 onwards, the Akari light sculptures extend the tradition of Japanese paper lanterns while also, through Noguchi’s vision, becoming sculptures of light in their own right. At OGATA, they become part of the building itself: a collection of lights, forms and shadows.
The exhibition runs until 26 September and should not be missed. One tip from a regular visitor: do not leave without trying their dorayaki.

‘Fragile Beauty’ at the Jeu de Paume

Fragile Beauty: Photographs from the Sir Elton John and David Furnish Collection brings together more than 300 prints from a collection of over 7,000 photographs assembled by the couple over more than thirty years, considered one of the most important of its kind.
Presented by the Victoria and Albert Museum and organised around five themes, the exhibition presents works by photographic legends such as Robert Mapplethorpe, Nan Goldin, Diane Arbus, William Klein, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon and many other photographers.
Beyond Elton John’s personal taste, the exhibition tells the history of contemporary photography through the eyes of two collectors. A rare opportunity to see it before it closes on 27 September.

The Guimet Museum presents the art of trompe-l’œil in Korea from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. Folding screens that conceal entire spaces and painted libraries that imitate rows of books are among the works that tell the story of chaekgeori, celebrating knowledge, illusion and imagined worlds.
The exhibition invites visitors to look closely at these meticulous compositions and at what they reveal about Korean interiors.

‘PENN & FASHION’ at the MEP
30 September 2026 – 17 January 2027 · 5/7 rue de Fourcy, 75004 Paris
The Maison Européenne de la Photographie pays tribute to Irving Penn, one of the most influential photographers of the twentieth century. The exhibition follows more than six decades of fashion photography, from his first haute couture portraits to his collaborations with Issey Miyake.
Penn worked with silhouette, volume and texture throughout his career. His photographs show how fashion can be thought of through material, light and silhouette. One definitely worth seeing in this beautiful setting and city.
